Dream House, green House

energy ball

Being in twenty something age, one of not-so-far goals of mine in life is to build/buy a house, where my future wife and my future child (a daughter that is :D) can life happily inside.

Well, to my surprise, I'm thinking that now I'm close enough to realizing that goal. But being a mechanical engineer with above average consciousness toward clean environment, I'm not going to bullshitting all of you about how I'm going to buy a decent house in Jakarta, but instead I'm going to list several idea about the potensial of nowaday technology in Jakart to support those clean movement by building a green house, is it even possible to build in the first place?

Extended body

1. Solar Cell as alternative power source

Are the price of solar cell in Jakarta is affordable, I don’t know for now, I will check this out. But one thing for sure is that our power grid system is screwed, and I know this from the first hand experience, so I definitely must have solar cell in my future house.

2. LED light

LED light maybe to most eficient lighting system to date, but giving the price as a weighting factor, LED is not very price-effective either. I will try to have a research on this one.

3. Smart sensor

This is an easy one, I can implement this rightaway, the technology is there so is the logic. My parent house already implemented this and overall cost is not even pass Rp100.000. the beauty of sensor like this is I can leave the house at midday and comeback late at night to found out that the outdoor light in my house is turn on automatically.

4. Water conservation

This one also can be easily implemented, people already implement this, even my parent house have water conservation area in the backyard. Maybe I can have a long detail article about this.

5. Zero waste disposal

Again, my parent already implement this one too, so the know-how is there for me to grab.

I think that’s all right? Of course there is gazillion of thing that I can do to make the house more green but let just focus on the big one ok. I will try to tackle these tenets one by one in the next article, hopefully not so long after this one goes online. In the mean time, Tell me, what your green house will be like!

When you’re hiring, seek out people who are managers of one

...What’s that mean? A manager of one is someone who comes up with their own goals and executes them. They don’t need heavy direction. They don’t need daily check-ins..
But still, it's very dificult to become one :)

Solar Furnace Melts Steel, holy crap!

seeing the potential energy of the Sun:
..in the French Pyrenees, it's capable of achieving 4,352 ºF (2,400 ºC)—which, as you can see, it's enough to melt steel in a few seconds and almost disintegrate hot dogs..
This is by far the most interesting video about sun energy

Using laundromats for counter Terrorist

Smart idea from UK:
..While the laundry was indeed being washed, pressed and dry cleaned, it had one additional cycle -- every garment, sheet, glove, pair of pants, was first sent through an analyzer, located in the basement, that checked for bomb-making residue..

Not applicable in Indonesia though.
